I enjoy historical fiction that is written as closely to the time and subject (Winds of War.War and Rembrance) as possible. It only makes sense that a more accurate protrayal would be written by someone that had lived through the period. Though AB Guthrie didn't live exactly in the period he would have been able to know people that pretty much had and he lived in the areas where this was played out.
