While Sometimes Shocking, Doesn't Completely Live Up to its Gruesome Potential Delicious Milkshake I wanted to give this first volume of "D.O.A. Extreme Horror" short stories a higher rating on the lyrical strength of To Be Filled In By The Subject, Caterpillar, Cold Air, Spiric Satisfied, Digital Media, My Dark Lover, Plague Hulk, In the Make-Out Room, Sickened, and Go To Your Room. I also thought Glutton for Punishment, The Bogeyman's Key, and Cena also had their moments, but were not as satisfying. However, a unfortunately high number of these 28 stories kind of didn't live up to their depraved potential IMO. Some of them sold themselves too sh. The Average Bear said Mixed Bag of Gems and Duds.. There is a fine line between Extreme Horror and what I call "Goreporn". I'm sure this line is different for everyone so it's important to note what differentiates between the two in my mind.For me, the extreme parts *must* be in service to the plot, otherwise, it's gratuitous and violence just for the sake of just having it.Having said where my line is draw, D.O.A. contains Mixed Bag of Gems and Duds.
