Pollard DDS the western lovers have lost a one of a kind in Elmer Kelton and his Western novels about Texas in the 1800's. No other writer has been able to capture the feeling of being in Texas in that era of our history as Kelton has done. His last book "Other Men's Horses"does an excellent job capturing the every day life of a Texas Ranger and his pursuit of a horse thief. Elmer and his writings will be missed.
Texas Ranger Andy Pickard, newly married and unsure of himself and his choice of career, is given what appears to be a routine assignment: find and arrest a horse trader named Donley Bannister who is accused of murder. Then Bannister disappears.This routine assignment gets even more complicated after Andy heals well enough to ride and follows the trader's young wife, hoping she will lead him to her husband.
