Walker is a professor of Criminal Justice and Criminology in the Department of Criminal Justice at the University of Arkansas, Little Rock, where he has taught since 1990. He served as President of the Academy of Criminal Justice Sciences in 2012-2013. His primary research interests are criminal law and procedure and corrections. He holds a J.D. in Criminal Justice from Sam Houston State University.
