However, I must respectfully disagree with the previous reviewers here as well as a number of the most significant claims Dr. Bruff makes amid hi. "This splendid book by Harold Bruff is fit both for" according to Thomas Neely. This splendid book by Harold Bruff is fit both for scholars and students, and for the rest of us as well. Read it. You will learn things you didn't know about the early giants, Washington, Jefferson, Jackson, Lincoln; you will meet a Polk who came out swinging and did not have much use for his secretary of state, one James Buchanan (who, as President, wrote a letter to a supreme court justice urging him to join the majority in Dred Scott); you will watch Harry Truman unilaterally escalate our military mission i. James E. Davidson said Important History and Analysis. An excellent analysis of an important and largely ignored topic. Highly recomended.
