Believe it or not? BELIEVE IT and your are in for lots of fast action, western adventure with Jess Williams and his friends. J. Long If you have read any of my western critiques you will know that I REALLY enjoy good reads. I'm very familiar with those written by L'Amour, Elmore Leonard, Ben Bridges and Chet Cunningham. I had just finished a Cunningham book and was looking for my next one when I saw an add on Kindle books for 'The Reckoning' by Robert J. Thomas. Advertised as a western with very good reader marks. I read some of the reviews, as I had neve. Where is the proofreader? Stonebec Where is the proofreader? I am on the 30th book in the series and the spelling and grammar errors continue unabated. I love the storyline and the characters but the amateur writing is definitely a distraction. I will continue to buy and read the whole series because of Jess but, I can not score any of the ones read so far higher than a 3 star. Such a shame. Such a horrible shame.. This is probably the best of the 51, and I highly recommend it to anyone who likes good western action combined with a little science fiction. You will want to read the rest of them. I'm waiting for the next one.
Only 14 years old when his family is brutally murdered; You can actually feel and sense the character change in the beginning of the book and from then on, the book is one tale of deadly justice handed out by a character molded by a life-changing event. The author claimed that he wanted to create an exciting new twist to the old western novel and he accomplished it with this book and especially with this character, Jess Williams.
