Father John O'Malley has been banished from Boston to the dirt-poor mission at Wyoming's Wind River Reservation to recover from his alcoholism. From Publishers Weekly Murder is only one element in this debut mystery, which also takes on interracial romance, the exploitation of Indian lands and the political ambitions of a former county commissioner who's also a gubernatorial candidate. Welcome to the Wind River Rez This is the first book in Margaret Coel's 'Wind River" series. It is an excellent look at another culture within the general US culture. It goes past he usual 'why?' questions to introduce us to a society within our society, one of many Native American societies which had a profound effect on making Americans different from their European ancestors. In this one, we see what the eagle means to these Native Americans . Beginning mystery of a seriesfairly good, but writing isn't the best. K. Touch, well that was a special addition to this story. Even the coffee tasted good enough to drink in my imagination.
