Although not always historically correct ( it doesn't claim to be) it left reader with an understanding of how war affects everyone. Nobody was uneffected by World War II in England; life did not return to . "Very absorbing novel" according to reading junkie. Good grief! Could the young woman in this novel been any more stupid? I had to put myself back into a 17 year old mind to understand why she did the dumb things she did and that's when I was able to begin to grasp why she made the choices she did.
