Amazon Customer said Twist, dark, Oz goodness. If you have $"Twist, dark, Oz goodness" according to Amazon Customer. If you have $2.99 and are itching for an ebook, you must go purchase "Shadows of the Emerald City. It's that good.I confess that I own the paperback, which I purchased from the Northern Frights Publishings's booth at Edmonton's Pure Spec convention in October. So, I'm cheating just a tiny bit here. However, the words are all the same and, at that $2.99, you just can't go wrong with this book.I'm not a Wizard of Oz fan and I'm really not a horror/twisted dark fiction fan. So, when I say that I felt this was well-written, well-compiled, and well-edited, you are hearing this from a non-fan of the genre. There were a few stories I had to. .99 and are itching for an ebook, you must go purchase "Shadows of the Emerald City. The dark underbelly of OZ will have you grinning like a loon! Normally when you think of OZ, you picture the colorful world from the MGM classic - not in this book! OZ is a bleak world full of horror, perversity and gore - and I loved it! 19 spectacular stories for your reading pleasure - guaranteed to change your perception about the other side of the Rainbow. It's really cool seeing some of the pre-Dorothy happenings as well as how Dorothy affected the happy little world. While every story was pure enjoyment, the top 3 stories that stood out for me were JW Schnarr's 'Dorothy of OZ', Rajan Khanna's 'Pumpkinhead' & Lori T.Strongin's 'Not in Kansas Anymore'.Someone forward a copy of this to Tim B. SFA said Some great dark Oz stories mixed in with some not so great ones.. This review is from a lifelong fan of Oz, especially the Oz books by L. Frank Baum. If the review seems a bit biased towards stories that deviate too far from the canon books, that's why.And while I do understand these are all supposed to be dark stories I still believe Oz is best when presented in a way even a child can enjoy. This book is definitely NOT for kids! And I mean no disrespect to any of the authors when I give the story a low score or harsh critique. I would rather be honest in my reviews than lie to be kind and this book could have been better without getting bogged down with a few of these stories. I DO hope it is follow
