M Horn-Fahey said Unique One-of-a-Kind Vietnam War Stories. I've read several memoirs of the Vietnam War but never something like this. Quale is a fantastic storyteller. Reading it, I felt feel like I right there beside him, whether he was riding through Duc Pho, past the Catholic orphanage where the orphans sold marijuana; or supervising churlish villagers as they helped build bunkers; or shaking through an all-night rocket attack; or hearing a fellow GI conf. Rebecca said Informative and straight forward.. My Husband served in Viet Nam (combat engineer battalion) and I got more information from base camp from "Replacements" than he's ever shared. He read the book, also, and said it was very accurate. He goes to yearly reunions and the Guys share the hardships like Mr Quale's book relates and can laugh at some crazy times and cry at others.
