Jane H. Rogers said Cowboys and cattle. Very interesting stories from early Texas Panhandle residents.. West Ks said Worth it. An other great read by Mr. Cogburn. Panhandle Frannie Brett Cogburn has done it again.I began Panhandle thinking it was moving a bit slow, but there was a reason, Brett wanted to woo me into the meat of the story and he did it well. I liked the style in which this book is written. The feelings he gave to three cowboys out to have a good time, riding the range and haveing no responsiblities to answer for. "I love a good Western, but they are not always easy to find.  Many of them tend to be rather formulaic and the ending of the story is apparent from a long way out.  Every once in a while I find one that breaks from that mold and when I do I savor it like fine wine (or a shot of rotgut).  Brett Cogburn's Panhandle is one of the best Westerns I've read recently  If you like Westerns, but are tired of the same old, same old, give Panhandle a try." - Wake County, North Carolina Public Library System staff review."Nate Rawlins and Billy Champion set out to conquer the untamed Texas Panhandle of the 1880s the only way they know how: driving cattle, breaking horses, and doing a little drinking and gambling. There's an earthy realism and attention to detail in this first novel that sets it apartBrett Cogburn has a deft ear for planting emotion and honesty in his rhythmic cowboy dialogue." - AudioFile Magazine, 8/16/13
