I ordered a used, in good condition, hardcover edition of the book for my son in Arizona, and it came through in good condition, he said. I had just read the book myself before, one of the few Kenneth Roberts' books I had not read. I think it was one of his best. It was an eye-opener to me on the Revolutionary War times, from start to finish, from the point of view of the Loyalists. I lived in the Boston area much of my life. What Roberts had to say about places in New England where I had been (. "Every story has 2 sides" according to Jean Bartlett. A wonderfully informative book about the Tories in the Revolutionary war Had just listened to a Book about Ben Franklin during the War for independence and the loyalist were spoken of often. I remembered the book Oliver Wiswell I read it when I was 16. Ordered the book, and have not been disappointed. It is a work of fiction with great history incorporated. It is a great read. Roberts' best I just finished this book, and I believe it to be Kenneth Roberts' best book. I have enjoyed all of his storys since I read Arundel years ago. He was a masterful storyteller, and his knowledge of the history and culture of the times is unequaled. I have long felt that his books are timeless and should be required reading in both high school and college.
