Lost Treasures William A. Schell I happened upon this book at my local library. The title alone was enough to get my attention, then I saw the list of authors whose works are contained within the pages of this wonderful book. It reads like a Who's Who of great Modern writers. The list includes, but is not llimited to the following; Winston Churchill, Agatha Christie, Robert Graves, C.S. Forester, Sinclair Lewis, F. Scott Fitzgerald, William Faulkner, Raymond Chandler, John Steinbeck, Truman Capote, John Updike and 12 other literary greats.The stories included here were for the most part never reprinted once published. They vanished to obscurity while the authors w. Brad Shorr said Highly Entertaining!. This is a stupendous collection of short stories and really deserves to be back in print. All of the authors are well known, but not known for their work in the horror genre. The first half of the collection features British writers; the second half, American. Authors include Winston Churchill (!), Agatha Christie, Robert Graves, Raymond Chandler, William Faulkner, Truman Capote. "The Cherries," by Lawrence Durrell of all people, is without doubt the most unsettling story I've ever read. Every story is expertly written, memorable and a pleasure to read.
