I am reading Wheeler's Barnaby Skye novels again. It has been a few years since I last read them. Still great Mountain Man books. Wheeler never disappoints all of his books have great story and great characters, they can be read in, or out of order, although I would recommend keeping the order intact. This particular novel, "Going Home," is exceptional, a can't put it down read. No one writes better about the era of the Mountain man than Richard Wheeler..
