The good news here, with this brand new release, is that it deals with the undead, something almost EVERYONE in our culture knows about. The world of H.P. Lovecraft may be obscure to some, but who hasn't watched a zombie show or movie? Who hasn't been entertained by trashy vampires (or meek sparkling ones)? The theme for this anthology challenges those familiar tropes while giving fans. Amazon Customer said A seminal horror anthology. This anthology is centered around all things undead, there are the obvious zombie stories, but also a myriad of others that fall within the sub-genre. Nineteen stories comprise this book, and each of them pushes the limits of the typical undead fare. The writing throughout is excellent and many of the writers should be checked out in their own right.Some of the storiees push the limits a bit, referring to the Unbound portion of the title, and is on par with Mr. Sammon's other anthologies of a similar theme, Cthulhu Unbound and Cthulhu Unbound II. The layout of. "From ughzombies to Holy crap, zombies!" according to Konstantine Paradias. I don't like zombie fiction or anything that has to do with the undead. I consider the pandering to the particular genre to have outlived its fad-stage, having entered into sheer damn tedium. When I picked up Undead and Unbound, I did it after a friend suggested it to me.It's a good thing that this sizeable chunk of awesome was what I got instead. Cody Goodfellow is awesome as usual and Rawlik's entry along with the Sammons-Conyers team-up were the stories that stood out in this collection.
