It proved to be one of the most memorable books that I have ever read dealing with the First World War. I shed more tears throughout this story than most novel permit but I was so touched by the characters that it couldn't be helped. This was not the first book that I have read by Diney Costeloe. josie said Great book!. If you've read THE SISTERS OF SAN CROIX, this will be a relished follow up. Both books deal with similar themes yet are different enough to keep the reader hooked. I loved the characters and having just finished the book have already begun to miss them.
