In that sense, the value of the lessons learned from Buffett's Essays could be far greater than the book's price. There are uncountable gems of financial wisdom to be harvested from these essays, taken from the annual reports he writes for Berkshire Hathaway, his holding company. He's great at homespun metaphor, but behind those catchy phrases is a reservoir of financial acumen that's generally considered the best of his generation. Just to pick one more, here's a now-famous line about those he competes with when making stock-market investments: "What could be more advantageous in an intellectual contest--whether it be chess, bridge, or stock selection--than to have opponents who have been taught that thinking is a waste of energy?" While Buffett has a policy of seldom commenting on stocks he owns--he feels public pronouncements will only lead to the public's expectation of more public pronouncements, and he likes to keep his cards close to his vest

Wisdom This is an excellent collection of wisdom from THE rockstar of investing. Is his strategy for you? Probably not. But if you want to learn about Buffett's philosophy, this is the best way to go. If you run a business, this book offers great ethical advice. If you are considering a long-term stock purchase (investment), this book will give valuable advice for how to think about your decision.. Hard but good I would not recommend this book to everyone, because he uses some advanced economic terms that some people wouldn't understand. However, I was able to understand most of what he was saying and it was an interesting perspective on how he invests in companies; I'd never thought of investing quite the way he does. It is a good book and I'd recommend it to anyone with a background in economics.
