The main characters suffered and endured so much and had a goal that I just knew would be achieved. Alas the author knew otherwise! The story describes in detail the daily routine of mountain men such as how to obtain, prepare and store food; also how to be trappers and how to survive. From crossing the west to meeting at rendezvous. You see the true ruggedness of the west.. "Mountain Men, Trappers" according to Dorothy Lytton. A very good insight to how the Mountain men/Trappers lived. Fight weather,bears and Indians. Plus the loss of friends and family. I enjoy the read.
