I can't imagine anyone who is interested in WW II not wanting to read this book. I can't imagine anyone who is interested in WW II not wanting to read this book. I'll preface this by saying that I've never been in combat. I grew up at a time when everyone's father had been in "the war" (you didn't have to say which one), but by luck of birth year, I managed to be just too young for Vietnam, and far too old for the wars that followed.This book is not an attempt to turn the combat expe. A thought-provoking book Reading this book will give a person who wonders what it would have been like to face combat in WWII a fairly accurate and gritty picture. The author takes you right into the dirt, filth, terror and brotherhood of being a soldier. It all boiled down to to not letting your buddies down and doing everything to stay alive. These men did not have time to think about patriotism or the “Big Picture,&rdqu. "One Of The Best" according to A Thoughtful Consumer. Historical fiction is the hardest kind of writing to be successful at. You have to know your subject inside and out and then build characters that are believable and create a plot that is interesting to hold them all together. Kippert does this in spades.
