About the Author James Berry was born in Jamaica in 1924 and has lived in Britain since 1948. His own poetry collections include Fractured Circles, Chain of Days, When I Dance and Hot Earth Cold Earth (Bloodaxe, 1995). He is the editor of two important anthologies of Caribbean and Black British poetry, Bluefoot Traveller and News from Babylon.
