Required reading This should be required reading for every high schooler. As salient now as ever. Trumbo vividly lays out the cost of war at the basest of levels. Those who vote to send our troops to war should be required to have immediate family members serve in theatre. And folks that get multiple deferments should be precluded from sending others to war.. "I love the song "One" by Metallica" according to Amy. Wow. This book is a real gut puncher. I love the song "One" by Metallica, which is based on this book, so I had to read it. It's horrifying, sad, and deeply thought provoking. This book deserves so much more recognition and acclaim than it gets.. "Amazing book" according to Paige Espiritu. I loved this book. It was recommended to me in school and I loved reading it. It was incredibly thought provoking and definitely kept me engaged. I was worried that I wouldn't like it, as I'm not really big on war stories, but this book drags you in and is such a great read. Highly recommend.
