Crash Dive: a novel of the Pacific War (Volume 1) "Held my interest, looking forward to the next one!" according to onewac. While this is a fast read, it held my interest. It was nice to read a book t. Roger J. Buffington said Superb Submarine Military Fiction. This is first-rate submarine military fiction. The setting is the early days of the Second World War in the Pacific. The protagonist is assigned to an obsolete, World War 1 vintage S class submarine. Although the sub was originally designed for coastal defense, its capabilities are being stretched by assigning it to seek out and sink Japanese ships around the Guadalcanal area. Essentially, the S boats have to carry the day while the US hurries to build the more mode. "This was a good book for its genre" according to Radio Lab Listener. This was a good book for its genre. I enjoyed it both for the history and the interplay of characters on the submarine and the strategies of submarine warfare, how the submarine captain and the enemy destroyer captains try to outwit each other.
