For the general reader who wants to be well informed about Catt, this is probably the best choice. However, in some ways Prof. Fowler's book ("Carrie Catt: Feminist Politician") is better--in my view Fowler's analysis is more incisive and his writing is stronger. Nevertheless, his intention was not a complete biography, and Van Voris's book contains much more detail and information.Peck's biography of Catt (published in the 1940s) is very readable and full of the suffragist spirit, but omits. I'm glad I came across this book this month since August 26 is the 92 anniversary of the passing of the 19th. amendment. The book also contains a great bibliography for those engaged in women research.
